Second Meeting of the RuralMED Mobility Project Held in Thessaloniki

Employees of REA North, Zvonimir Perko and Ilija Beljan, from July 1st to 4th 2024. participated in the second meeting of the project “Development of E-Mobility in Rural and Remote Areas of the Mediterranean – RuralMED Mobility” in Thessaloniki (Greece).

On the first day, Steering Committee was held, where the activities carried out so far were discussed, along with the upcoming first financial and narrative report and the tasks from the work packages that need to be completed in the next six months.

In the further working part of the meeting, the second Transnational Forum of partners was held, where the current status of the development of the platform to be used for electric vehicle charging stations was presented. Each partner with a planned investment in platform development presented the technical details of their investment, such as the number of charging stations they plan to install, the power of the chargers, AC or DC connectors, the number of electric cars they plan to acquire, and who these cars will be available to.

Through the RuralMED Mobility project financed throughout Interreg Euro-MED programme, the Koprivnica-Krizevci County will invest in the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in the municipalities of Gornja Rijeka, Ferdinandovac, Gola, and Kalnik, during which REA North will provide the county with technical assistance and support during the public procurement of the charging stations.

As part of the meeting in Thessaloniki, a study visit to the Center for Research and Technology (CERTH) was organized, where the project partners were introduced to the work of the center, specifically applications for monitoring CO2 emissions and traffic in the city of Thessaloniki.

The study visit to CERTH concluded with a presentation of a driving simulator that predicts various scenarios that can occur while driving, such as sudden pedestrian crossings, blind turns, and aquaplaning, i.e., the separation between the tire’s contact surface and the road when there is a large amount of water on the road.
